Equipment
- Cotton balls
- Steel nail file
- Nail scissors
- Toothbrush
- Fabric self-sticking bandage wrap (drugstore see photo on Amazon)
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Sovereign Silver bio-active hydrosol (10%)
Procedure
- Start by debridement – file and cut away as much nail as you can
- The idea is to expose as much infected skin as possible
- Also, file, scrape, and cut as much infected skin as you can stand
- Use the toothbrush dipped in peroxide to scrub the area as much as you can stand
- Dry off the toe and form a cotton ball into a little bundle that will just cover 2 toes
- Moisten the cotton ball with the silver solution
- Use a strip of bandage wrap to fasten the ball over two toes, even if the adjacent toe is not infected, this will help prevent spread of infection
- Use the dropper in the silver solution bottle to saturate the cotton ball
- Leave the poultice in place for as many hours of the day as you can, even at night
- You may want to cover your foot with a hospital sock to keep the poultice in place
- Periodically re-wet the cotton ball with silver solution
- Use a Q-tip to apply silver solution to all uninfected toes to prevent contamination or appearance of latent infection
- Repeat the process every morning until all white areas and signs of fungus are gone
- For me, all signs of fungus were gone in less than a week
