Tri-County Beekeepers Association Inc. will hold their 40th Annual Spring Beekeeping Workshop Mar. 1-2, 2019 at the OARDC (Fisher Auditorium and Shisler Center) in Wooster Ohio.
On Saturday, March 2nd the workshop will begin with opening comments by Mr. Randall Westfall, Workshop Committee Chairman of TCBA in the Auditorium. Our keynote speaker will be Mr. Kim Flottum. His talk is titled, “Honeybee Nutrition”. Then three workshop sessions will follow. Each session will have four different breakout topics from which to choose. One of the breakout topics in each session will include a beginner beekeeping session.
There will be no Kids’ Class this year.
You can learn more about Small Hive Beetles and Foulbrood and how to keep your hive healthy. We will also learn more about Chemical Interactions and their effects on bees.
We are offering sessions on Urban Beekeeping, Top Bar Hives, and Electron Beam Sanitation as well as classes in Queen Rearing, Bee Plants, Pollination, Propolis and Royal Jelly, Mead making, and Soap making will round out the day’s activities.
Optional tours of the Bee Museum and Pollinatarium will be available Friday night March 1, 2019, and a “cooking with honey contest” will be a sweet way to start Saturday morning.
There will be over 40 vendors there for you to purchase equipment ans supplies including the Amish with their hand-made bee boxes and frames.
As was the case last year there will be a limit on registration so get registered early! There will be no walk-ins Saturday.
