These Specialty Fire Pistons take the concept of the Traditional Fire Piston to a new level. They still work on the same principal if compressing air which heats up as its compressed to a high enough temperature to start tinder glowing red hot. However we have added a number of features to these Fire Pistons including “hidden compartment” sparking rods, clear and tinted plexiglass bodies so you can see the ignition of the tinder and adding hollow caps that can hold extra tinder a magnifying glass or other small survival type items.
Pen Fire Piston
While not a writing pen this Fire Piston is the same size as one and even comes with a clip to clip it to your shirt pocket and “looks like a pen”. It is made out of machined aircraft quality aluminum, has the O-ring gasket and a machined compression release vale at the bottom of the cylinder. Slim…Slick…and inconspicuous sums up this Fire Piston!

Pen with Fire-Steel Sparking Rod Fire Piston
This is exactly the same fire piston as the Survival Pen (above) except that the plunger that goes in the cylinder is hollow and threaded so that a fire-steel sparking rod (ferrocerium rod) is placed inside as alternate way you can start a fire. The hollow plunger can be used to house other items but a sparking rod comes with it from us.

This is the Cap that comes on the Survival Kit Fire Piston (below). We sell longer hollow “secret compartment” cap separately so that your can transform any of the Plexiglass Fire Piston you already have (Clear, Firefly Green, or Golden Amber) into a Plexiglass Survival Kit Fire Piston. Simply unscrew the cap off any of the Plexiglass Fire Pistons and screw on this cap. The cap comes with an O-ring sealed screw cap and houses both a hidden fire-steel sparking rod (ferrocerium rod) and solar burning lens with room to store tinder, cotton ball or other necessities. The cap is shown to the left attached to a standard Plexiglass Fire Piston Plunger (not included)
